Blacksmith makes fine violins

In April 2008, the Library was contacted by a man who had just purchased a violin made by Mr. Brougher. The violin was sold on eBay with this listing:

ANTIQUE MODEL BEAUTIFUL VIOLIN FROM 1944 NR!

This auction is for an antique violin. It came from a lovely local estate where beauty and quality was evident. It is signed "John W. Brougher" on the inside. It also appears to read "Bremen Indiana Oct. 19th 1944". We are not violin experts so please inquire. It is in excellent structural condition. We are not sure what 4/4 means but believe it to be a size. It is 24" long, 8 1/2" wide, at its widest. It will need to be restrung and it will sell with no reserve beyond the opening bid. Winner of this auction will pay actual UPS ground service shipping, and handling. Insurance is included. Indiana residents must pay 7% sales tax. No international shipping. Winner may also pick up, we are located in Fort Wayne, IN.

The winning bid was $135.50.

Below is a picture of the violin with its appreciative new owner in El Paso, Texas.
